Is there anything affordable out there to let me talk to my driver. At a reasonable cost that works,

Assuming it does, is there anything recommended and affordable out there?

I looked into this a fair bit, and thought I'd cracked it on a budget (think less than £150 for 3 Walkie + assc). Got some high power (what I thought anyway - baofeng) walkies, external aerial on top of the car, helmet mics/earpiece, etc... Tested it round the paddock (in the car), worked OK. Even reached from Silverstone (original pits) to club corner (hand held), when tested on a trackday.

Thought Great!, as this distance is pretty much the most I would ever want to talk to pits/driver - anyway.

First race, I could hear other drivers talking to pits, and pits talking to the their drivers, just couldn't hear anything from our setup. Driver in our car could hear other people talking, but nothing from us. Tested it once again, on a test day, again, my driver passing by on pit straight, couldn't hear a thing (either way).

Almost seemed like our car was blocking the signal getting through at anything above 3k revs.....?
Idea has been scrapped now, as I can't be bothered to spend any more time on it (for sale: 3x Walkie + security ear pieces - great for the kids if you have a long garden...!)

Unless it's changed most races below international do not allow it except for endurance races ,
Also falls into radio licence rules et all.
As said above check the blue book and championship regs .
