Re-apply for license (Race-Nat B) after a few years away?
Discussion
I got my Race Nat B in 2010 (I think) and did a season racing in 2011, I renewed the license in 2012 but since then I haven't done anything. What's the procedure on renewing? Just a paperwork exercise? Would like to put it to use again in 2016
Thanks in advance for the help
Dunc.
Edit: Oh while I'm here is the Simpson Hybrid HRS a valid choice from a regulatory point of view? (Sports car racing)

I think according to the blue book, you may need to start again. In 8.2.2 it says you need to have held a Nat B lic in 2013 to apply now without the starter pack/ards test rigmarole.
However, 8.2.3 talks about having held or been entitled to hold a licence higher than Nat B gives you 5 years grace. I guess to prove it you will need results sheets showing you did enough races to get to Nat A. 6 races. It says clerk of the course sigs, but I have used results sheets to upgrade my Nat A to Int C before when I hadn't collected the sigs.
(8.2.3. *Anyone who can provide proof of having ever held, or entitled to hold, a Race licence of higher status than Restricted or National ‘B’. Competitors who have not renewed their licence for five years or more will be required to pass the ARDS written examination. )
As with all things blue book, there may be other interpretations! They are very helpful on the phone by the way if you want to phone and ask.

Easy. Covering letter detailing each race and finishing position. Results sheets are best, you can probably download them from TSL. As long as you did not get lots of endorsements and the like you will almost certainly go straight back to your old grade. I got my Int C license back after a break of 15 years
RAC Liscence office were very helpful.

I thought it was 10 races for National A (happy to be proved wrong though )

Simpson Hybrids are fantastic. Stopped using Hans and went Simpson. You don't need to buy different angles for different seating I.e. sports, saloons, single seaters Meaning 1 Simpson does all, and they protect not only Front or rear impact , Also Lateral side impact. I swear by mine.
Wee update on this to help anyone searching in future. Phoned MSA, they said the time gap wasn't a problem and if I send in 6 race timing sheets (just taken from TSL timings website) to prove I've successfully completed 6 races I could get a Nat A as well.
Was happy with that due to the funny power to weight ratio regulation.
