Hi All

I'm prepping a Mini Cooper S R53 for club racing and soon the cage will be done and ready for paint. Looking at BTCC / touring cars etc they mostly all seem to be either silver or grey inside so thought I would do the same. A long shot but has anyone else painted the inside of their car in either of those colours and could post a picture? Or could let me know the paint code they or used or even does anyone know what paint code the BTCC teams use would be great.

Any help much appreciated

white /grey/silver tend to be the best colours for showing cracks which is one of the reasons people paint the inside those colours.

i suspect everyone has a different paint code

Here are a couple of the interior of our race car. No idea on the paint code though.

We painted the engine bay white as it makes any leaks (coolant, brake fluid, oil, petrol) easier to spot.

If you're going to aerosol it - by far the cheapest option is the good old generic UPOL Power Can in silver, steel or white.

Bought in bulk you can get it as low as £2.50ish for a 500ml can.

Remember that on production cars that prep is king. The passenger cells tend to be quite greasy and almost waxy surfaced. So get busy with the thinners.

A good etch primer will also make huge difference. Again UPOL Power Can etch primer is available in big cans for a similar price to the paint.

This is the UPOL silver:
