MSA tyre list 1B has this entry for Kumho tyres:

MSA said:
Kumho
- Ecsta V700 (including V70A) (OE Fitments 215/40/17 only)
Firstly, I thought the V700 and V70a were the same tyre?

Secondly, does that mean that the only size you can run is 215/40/17?

Further down on list 1C it says this:

MSA said:
Tyres listed on 1b as valid for cars first registered before 01/10/1990 are valid in 1c where fitted to cars first registered after 01/10/1990.

Kumho
- Ecsta V700 (including V70A)
So it looks like if I want to run V70a on my car registered before 1990, I can only run 215/40/17? confused

The Kumho is a 1c tyre, and can be used in any size and on any car under those regulations.

Thanks. Why is it listed in 1B and 1C then?!

Because it's allowed in 1b in only one size (which I believe was OEM fitment on a Mini GP2, so that need to be retained on List 1b).

Up until this season it was one of the tyres of choice amongst the hillclimbing/sprint fraternity, but now due to it being list 1C it may be on the wane a little.

Stupid thing is you can't get them in some of the sizes anyway! Same as Toyo who advertise a new tyre but not available in all advetised sizes. I've been knocking my head against a brick wall with tyres. Had Kumho's and Toyos on order since December '15 with a "very big" motorsport retailer near to me and still have not got a tyre yet even though they were promised in 6 weeks. frown

Hopefully a well known Blackpool motorsport tyre retailer has come to the rescue, will know for sure tomorrow spin
