Off the back of a thread in GG about aux. gauges.

Does anyone use one, what do you use?

What do you like dislike etc, I'm looking at the wireless dust cap variety specifically these (does temp and pressure) : http://www.tyrepal.co.uk/tyre-pressure-monitoring-...

any one use it?

Unless the technology has moved on a long way in terms of robustness from a few years ago, then on a racecar I'd avoid like the plague.

I persevered with a Tyresure system for about a season and a half and it was way more trouble than it was worth. It was convenient - but it never once came in useful *during* a race.

Sensors would just pack up unexplainedly. They'd also drop sync and have to be linked back in which was a total PITA, and even when tyres were put on by pro Motorsport fitters like Adams & Page / Cooper the sensors could still sometime catch and get damaged.

Thanks for the replies, out of every one i've spoken to and has replied, no one has got any positive stories that dont have a but in them!

With regards to the original link i posted, I phoned the company and spoke to a sales guy about how the temperature aspect of the system worked. As i couldn't see this bolt on valve cap doing tyre temp. sure enough it doesn't it give ambient temp of the dust cap....... right next to a hot brake disk...... yea that'll be usefull for gauging the temp of the tyre!

I'll save my money I think!
