Discussion
I'm entering this years Crystal Palace sprint on May Bank Holiday but am unsure what class my old E30 BMW would be in? I just wondered if someone could give me a few pointers, as obviously I want it to be placed in the most competitive class and am happy to make any minor changes that may be required?
It's a 1989 BMW M3 and has the following modifications from stock.
KW V2 suspension & uprated ARB's
Tarox 6 pot callipers & uprated pads
Shorter diff ratio
Full bolt-in cage (pro fitted with strengthened floor)
Race seats, harnesses and steering wheel
Carpet & door cards remain, although rear seat removed.
Toyo r888's
Engine has DTM airbox & Alpha N
I think that's just about all relevant mods and I will be fitting extinguisher and FIA electrical cut-out switch.
Thanks in advance.

unless they have changed it, from what I recall, CP had a weird class structure anyway with lots of small classes of 4 or 5 cars and in no way fitted in with championship sprint classes.
just had a look at the regs and it seems they run a more standard class structure now but divided up into years the car was manufactured.
Will need a hans device if going for mod prod.

That'll be me out of mod prod then, as I simply cannot afford a HANS at the moment. I know they're very good and advised etc, but I'm happy to compete and rely on the safety equipment I do have. just had a look at the regs and it seems they run a more standard class structure now but divided up into years the car was manufactured.

I'm not sure removal of the rear seats does take you out of roadgoing. We thought this a while back and then when looking it up in the rules couldn't find it anywhere. If you need to take the rear seats out to fit the cage, the rules would then effectively be saying you cannot fit a safety item (cage) in roadgoing.
My reading of the blue book is that all interior trim (including seats) must remain for roadgoing. The mod prod rules make a positive statement about rear seats, but there is nothing in the road going regs that state you can remove the seats however. I don't think anyone would complain about parts of the rear seats to make room for a cage.
