Discussion

/numbers on the car on the road. I have seen in the US they do vinyl numbers which are easy to peel off and reuse but can find a UK seller. Any one know where I can get some in the UK.

Just saw a new SnapOn tool, the "CrudThug", with a stainless wire wheel on it removing underseal most effectively.
I didn't see it used with a "rubber eraser" wheel, that apparently will take off stickers and vinyl without damaging paintwork.

Pricey though! $350 US, £500 (Spivs!) in UK.

The car has no windows, or doors. I was looking at this company http://www.gochecker.com but not sure the size is correct for MSA was hoping someone had already used something like this in the UK. I'll have to keep looking, thanks for the ideas.
As said, provided the paint is nicely buffed with a good layer of polish the self adhesive ones from tweeks and all the others will peel off at the end of the meeting easily. One of the silicone based polishes seems to work better than wax in my experience.
However .. after you have been competing for a while you will have a collection of assorted unused numbers from previous years. These become brittle and can be very challenging to remove.
Magnetic numbers could perhaps be used on a GRP car by bonding some magnets to the inside of the door panel, plainly the polarity would need to be correct.

A friend on a Euro Drive where we had vinyl numbers found his paint was damaged afterwards. However, out of 9 cars on the drive he was the only one not to remove them withing days of the run ( he left them on for some weeks ) and also not to spray the surface with a soapy water solution.
