The R888R uses the same "GG" compound.. suspect it's better in proper wet conditions.
Thanks that's what I thought would be the case but I spoke to the technical director at Toyo last week and he reckons the R has a new compound and more grip albeit still badged as GG (medium). Toyo are not offering them in GGG (soft) or SG (super soft) though. I am interested in real life experience of them if anyone has tried a set.I used them for two races last year. Best thing about them is that they are asymmetric which really helps with wear rate as you can fully rotate.
A lot depends on what car they're being used on but for me they have better all round grip than R888's but don't get up to temp quite as quick. Upside is they don't overheat so quickly and fall off a cliff like the R888's did but you can still feel grip levels decreasing after 8 to 10 mins hard driving.
Never used them in the wet/damp but I've heard some varied reports.

I used these on the Supercopa for the first time in the wet at the weekend.
Have to say, good grip given the conditions and didn't feel the need to put on the full racing wets.
I've used them in the dry before and I'm finding them really good. Take a bit longer to get up to temp but seem to last well. Asymmetrical too which is very handy for prolonging tyre life.

30 is interesting. did you run R888's at that sort of pressure as well? I run my old 888's at 21 but I guess my griffith at 980kg is lighter than a cupra? I will be interested to see if the R888R's need more pressure.
blimey 21 is low for a hot setting , I aim for 26 hot on GG compound on 888's.Gassing Station | UK Club Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
