To save me delving though... and forgive me if its a stupid question.. but on a sprint or hillclimb with a sports libre car, can a mix of slicks and treaded tyres be used so long as same tyres are on same axle? In other words, can I use slicks on the front and non-slicks on the rear?

Pretty much a free for all.

Just dont mix crossplies/radials front and rear.

You get used to finding your way around it after about 20 years!

Worryingly, I can quote some regulations by number now.

A lot of slicks are of crossply construction.
