Sorry if this has been asked before, but what tyre is best from list 1B in the wet? Looking to use r888's for the dry and replace with 888R's when they have expired.

Its for a seven type car.

Thanks

I've always found Toyo R1R's about as good as anything on the list.

What Trev said! Possibly not so much on a heavier car but on a light car like a 7 then you'll struggle to best R1Rs.

Thanks gents - they look to be pretty cheap which is an added bonus.

Any other suggestions worth considering?

Don't forget that the 1b list is about to be re-written. So if you can avoid buying tyres for a couple of months, that might be best.

Ah ok - thanks Dan.

Do you know when the MSA will be revising the list?

This won't happen until the 2016 MSA Yearbook is published, and that will be mid November (at the earliest).

And no doubt it will be full of more nonsense and complication !!

For the Toyo's, Oponeo generally has good prices compared to some sellers. Availability in some sizes seems to change quite often though, as some days you'd search and find your tyre, try a few days later and it wont be listed. Then again few days alter it's back again

For full wets I use Uniroyal Rainsports. Can't beat them really. For Inters Toyos are good and for dry you can't beat Dirreza 03Gs

Depending on sizes, this is currently the wet 1b tyre to have:

Thank's for the guidance - I can only budget for dry's and wets though (no money for inters!)

With my car being on a J Plate, I guess the CR28's are not an option for me now then…

There is also a lot of the sprint boys running Soft Avon ZZR's. These are noted as 'OE Fitments marked 15156 & 15157 only'. Eh? Any ideas what this means?

I did see this on another forum thanks Stevieturbo. It's causing a lot of debate in sprinting and hill climbing circles. I can't see the MSA changing their minds…but I might be wrong

I would still be interested to get any further guidance on this question - I don't have the budget to try several tyres, I have to get it right first time.
