Imp racer tyre availability problem
Discussion
Have recently bought an Imp for club racing (probably HRDC) trouble is the tyres are like rocks being 7 years old and HP tyres have had my size on back order with Dunlop for 2 months now. Sorted the rest of the car out and now need to get out testing as a precursor to racing it. Not HP tyres fault the problem lies with Dunlop. HP have kindly offered me a some part worns so I can at least got testing but they only have 3 ( 4.50 M13 CR 65)
So I'm just wondering if there is anybody out there with a spare 4.50 M13 CR 65 they would be willing to sell me. I think that size fits the Lotus Cortinas too, so HP tell me.
Many thanks,
Keith

They are really difficult to find but I did get 3 from Longstone recently for my Imp and Cortina.I suspect I may have got the last ones.
The old ones were useless and went in the skip.I got the larger back ones for the Cortina from those guys that support the CSCC but I cant remember their name.I guess it will be on the CSCC website.

There are a lot of issues with reliable supplies of CR65 M and particularly L section historic since Dunlop switched production from Fort Dunlop to Portugal..

Dunlop replied to the gripes on tentenths but nothing's changed. I think it's outrageous that so much historic motorsport in this country is completely dependent on one manufacturer. How hard can it be to have tyres made in the same compound from different makers? I really think Dunlop's monopoly should be broken up. Who knows….their exhorbitant prices might even come down a bit.N.
Visited HP tyres today to pick up the part worns. They explained the problems over the switch to Portugal so there goes another bit of the UK manufacturing base. I reckon it will take at least to the end of the year to sort that lot out.
Tried Longstone no luck. Going to post on the Imp club and try Allen and Page.......
