What is the consensus, price of race suits seems to be very much a matter of amount of fire protection versus weight and coolness/breathability.

Would a moderately good two layer with Nomex underwear be sufficient for club racing, intend to race a fiberglass historic GT car?

What spec do you guys use for similar racing?

Suits have moved on recently. The 3 layer versions can keep you cool when combined with the correct nomex underwear.

Given the car, I would use the best protection available.

Also I believe that it depends on the brand.
I wear FreeM suits - lighter and still provide the same level of protection of a heavier suit and they'll make you a suit to fit you perfectly and design for the same price of an off the shelf one !
