Fuel System Advice
Discussion
Bit of winter prep on my circuit tin top race car.
My intentions for the fuel system were to use the standard under floor fuel tank/in tank pump to feed into a swirl pot (also mounted under the car) which feeds an aftermarket high pressure pump.
Having seen the price of a replacement in tank pump for my car I'm having second thoughts. I'm now considering fab'ing my own ali tank with an aftermarket external lift pump up into the swirl pot instead. If I can find a decent lift pump for around £100 then this will prove more cost effective I should think as well as with design benefits.
Is there a minimum thickness the ali sheet has to be for the fuel tank, I couldn't see anything in the MSA bluebook?
Can anyone recommend an external lift pump, preferably with -6 fittings?

If you're going to go to the trouble of fabbing a tank, design the tank so no external swirl tanks and multiple pumps are neededMy intentions for the fuel system were to use the standard under floor fuel tank/in tank pump to feed into a swirl pot (also mounted under the car) which feeds an aftermarket high pressure pump.

You should easily be able to get a lift pump sub £100, but again it will depend where you're mounting it etc.
But if your OEM tank already has an internal pump, and you intend using an external swirl tank....why would you waste money buying a different in-tank pump ?
