Arrive and drive...
Discussion
Does anyone know of any good arrive and drive openings for next year? I haven't raced for almost 10 years, but back then I was 'ok' in FF1600, winning the Silverstone Race School, a good number of top 10 finishes and coming 2nd in a BRDC event (which I should have won). Now thinking Formula Ford or maybe MX5 type series. Budget isn't unlimited but at the same time we appreciate the relevant costs.

I've just spoken to Richard - total gentleman and top chap - thanks for the heads up.Have you considered Funcup did my first season last year and really enjoyed it, the racing whilst being very competitive throughout the field is very fair. The budget required is probably more than mx5 however the time per minute of track time is extremely cheap (motorsport terms).
I joined a privateer team which whilst not having the huge awning and massive race lorry was still competitive and cheaper. As it happens the team are looking for drivers next year as the other two drivers have taken a year traveling.
If interested i can pass on the details.

Surely there are opportunities for arrive and drive just about anywhere? Isn't it more about what you fancy versus budget?
Saloons (mx5, Porsche, fun cup, stock hatch etc)
Caterhams or maybe lowcost or other 7 alikes
Historics
Sports cars (rgb, bikesports, radicals)
Historic single seaters (FF1600, FF2000, CF3)
Modern single seaters (monoposto to formula 4)
The world is your oyster.
What do you fancy?

Thanks for the suggestions. Bert I agree with you, but I was just wondering what other peoples thoughts were. Since I left racing I haven't really followed any club motorsport and haven't kept upto date with what's around. I think the MX5 championship was just starting 10 years ago, now it seems like a thriving series, likewise, the Porsche series at the time seemed prohibitively expensive (for me) and now seems to have settled down nicely.

I'm sure Richard and Fraser will look after you, They did my geo all last year to perfection and I was close to a deal with them myself to buy a MX5 for next year. As you say both absolute gentlemen and a professional honest business which is rare in motorsport these days. We're running cars in the Classic & Historic Formula Ford Championships next year (one of our cars won Classic in 2014).

Running my FF2000 in HSCC last year, I got to watch the 1600s. Absolutely brilliant fun. Quite fancy one to race alongside my FF2000. Can't transport 2 cars though.www.gt-rt.com
