I'm looking at possibly getting a drive in the trackday trophy (late this season, early next).

My problem is I'm 6'4 and I'm about a 35 inc waist. Race suits for my height normally allow an extra 3 to 4 inches in waist size. My question is what do I do?

Can I get an FIA suit tailored to fit? (does this have to be done by anyone in particular?)

Or will I have to get a suit made to measure?

Or do I just stop being so vain and have excess suit flapping about? Which prior experience has me annoyed when trying to belt in quickly, all the folds can get caught up.

Thanks in advance.

I had my suit made to measure for an extra £60 when I got it from Demon Tweekes. That figure has probably gone up a bit now though as it was a few years ago.

Hi Trev.

What suit was it you had made to measure? Was it a nomex fia suit?

Cheers

Tim.

Yes its an OMP 3 layer FIA suit. Most of the leading manufacturers (Sparco, Alpinestars, etc) appear to offer this service though.

Many folks on a budget whom need an FIA suit made to measure use AWS.

www.advanced-wear.co.uk/index.html

I have bought two made to measure suits from them in the past and have received excellent service and turnrounds for something made to measure are very fast. Made in the UK as well and a bit cheaper than the big names.

I've had a few made-to-measure suits from AWS. Can't fault them.

The latest one came from IMPACT in the 'States, and it's top danglies. An equivalent Stand21 would have cost me about three times as much. Plus, if I decide to go racing 'Stateside, it's SFI approved too.

Sadly, they've stopped doing FIA suits other than to special order which costs a few more $$.

Try www.moderacewear.com I got all my Sabelt race gear from their Silverstone shop and am very impressed with it. I believe they do MTM suits
