316 M3 conversion
Discussion
What are peoples thoughts on the above for starting out in rallying? I should think its alot of fun, or would it be wiser to start off slightly lower down the pecking order and stick with what I was originaly aiming for, a clio 172 cup?
I saw one at the tempest rally and now one has come up thought it might be a good idea? The clio which was also there subsequently came first, with the M3 316 coming in mid field.

There is no issue using a converted car - I currently run 2 BMW M3 Compact rally cars. You do have to stick to a 3.0 M3 rather than the more common 3.2 (although you can run a 3.2 head)
BMWs are really good fun and are very reliable if you leave them largely standard. I started off with a Compact fitted with a 325 engine and have recently built another with a 328 engine.
My original blue M3 Compact will soon be for sale, but looking for £14k so probably a bit more than you are intending to spend. If you'd like more info on BMWs a good site is bmw-rallying.co.uk
Good luck! Team Notax team-notax.co.uk
