Cheap Race Suit
Discussion
I'm driving at a private event at a track soon and one of the requirements is to wear a race suit. The requirement is cosmetic only, ie the suit doesn't have to be of any spec and a pair of overalls would suffice so long as they look like a race suit! I missed out on a second hand kart suit last night on eBay so my thoughts have turned to buying something new.
As a driver of a convertible I'm concerned about my image and don't really want anything that looks too naff! The best value suit I've seen so far is the blue/white Class 1 race suit made by HT Hughes (I can't link as their website is down). Can anyone tell me what a Class 1 suit is actually suitable for? I note they do a cheaper Class 2 suit but prefer the two tone colour the former comes in.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to where I can buy something that meets my needs I'd be very grateful. Similarly if anyone has a cheap suit for sale.
Cheers!

Hi, depends on where abouts in the country you are based and how far you are going to go if you are looking to do just more private track sessions then a second hand suit might be the best option, if you end up with the racing bug and want to take it further then a FIA race suit will be the best option, it is always best to try race suits on as well as different manufacturers have different fits, thats the reason i asked where abouts in the country you are because if your not too far from London there is a new racewear shop and you could go try a few suits on to see what fits you best, if you do decide you want a full FIA suit but still want it to be cheap then the best option will be the Sparco Sprint as its 2 layer FIA 8856-2000 approved and will last for years, the new shop in London is called Road and Race Gear, they have a site and its a better alternative to dealing with tweeks or GPR, here is a link to the suit mentioned above
Hope this helps
