Can anyone advise of what racing classes are available for cars which are not in any way original, e.g. body from one car, engine from another? Ideally with unlimited engine capacity.

Thanks smile

The CSCC is planning a series of 4 x double headers next year for Special Saloons, Thundersalons, Modsports and Donington GT type cars. That may be what you are after, depending on how the regs are finally framed.

Sounds interesting; I'll keep my eye on the website.

O/T - the CSCC have something on their website which causes it to bring the browser to a grinding halt. Not sure what it is, nothing obvious. Has been like it all year though. Anyone else have the same problem? I'm using Firefox, in case that's what's making the difference.

I have been having similar problems with their website with Firefox - it doesn't bring it to a halt, but it does cause it to freeze for a few seconds, particularly if I try to scroll up or down on the homepage.

750mc runs a "Sports racing" challenge which I think is structured by power to weight ratios. Might be worth a look? Not sure on specific regs etc. If not you could enter the all comers series smile

Castle Combe Special GT Championship always seems to be a 'run what ya brung' type series. I'm unsure on the specific regs but they always appear accommodating...

Not sure yet, but it is being worked on & a series co-ordinator has been appointed.

The 'Sports Racing' challenge seems quite clear about its expected field and it's not eally what I had in mind.
The 'All Comers' truly is a Heinz 57 field; maybe a little too random, in fact, and the 15 minute race duration doesn't seem to offer the 'payback' against the asset cost.

All interesting stuff though thumbup

Re the CSCC: I think I might pop along to Snet for the CSCC meet on the 22/23 Oct. The Saturday looks like the best day, as I'm quite keen to see the DM field.

Tried the CSCC website from work using IE and it's just as bad; almost impossible to use.

I have passed on the message about the web site to the CSCC Office, I certainly wasn't aware of the problem & have not experienced any difficulties. We'll see what they can do about it.

Can you try the CSCC web site again, please. The issue has supposedly been fixed! Firefox should not be an issue as the webmaster uses it. I'm told that it may be worth upgrading to the latest version of Flash.

Please let me know how you get on so that I can report back. Thanks.

Certainly not fixed in IE. Just hangs for ages, lets you do something for a second and then hangs again. Will try FF when I get home.

V8Rob If its a steel bodied (all panels can be composite) saloon car & has an engine out of a car in, then I'm sure you would also be able to have a runout with the Classic Thudersaloon Car Championship too.

So Andy what happened to the CSCC requirement that they had to be original period Thundersaloon/Modsports. Beginning to sound like the same old thing trying to take competitors from over already established championships. Bit disappointed to hear that it may be thrown open for new built cars.

When you say "new build" what are you talking about here?

"Classic Thunder" caters for quite "new" machinery - even "21st Century" cars are welcome.
