Race seat expiry date - MSA vs FIA
Discussion
Found this from another site but wouldn't mind it confirming from a few other peeps -
''My understanding is that each race seat has a date stamp showing the date of manufacture, this is actually pressed into the moulding so removing the label doesent work.
For FIA sanctioned events only the seat must not be more that 5 years older than this date but for MSA events in the UK this date is not relevent
For MSA events the dates of seatbelts, helmets and overalls must be within the specified (blue book) dates but seats are not inspected at scrut or specified
The complexity occurs at say Spa at the 6 hour event which is a FIA event although the race is actually run to MSA regs - all very confusing''
Any comments would be greatful!
Thanks
