Shameless sob story
Discussion
As a few of you will know I was racing a rather nice Dallara X1/9 around the UK tracks several years ago - right up until one of my fellow competitors did a pinball impression around Hairpin at Cadwell park and shortened my car by several inches in the process. A rebuild was started with a fresh (well straight at least) shell and a new engine commissioned.
All went well for a while on my limited budget - the shell looked good with a fresh custom cage in it (thanks to rollcentre) and some new body panels while the engine came along nicely (dyno testing showed a comfy 250bhp from my little 1.4l engine). Then my budget shrunk and it all slowed down - the engine builder kindly offered to house the project while he fiddled with the engine to get more out of it. At the last dyno session the engine was up to 350bhp which far exceeded my original spec but would run like that all day.
Two weeks ago I got a call from the workshop to tell me the owner had done a runner and I need to get all my stuff. By the time I got there pretty much anything that wasn't bolted down had already been taken by other irate customers. Most of my kit was in a secure storage "bunker" but not all of it. My engine and gearbox have gone along with my trailer and a raft of "pretty" bits that had been kept in the office - I did recover another engine (I'm guessing the customer liked my engine better than his own but the workshop guys were happy for me to have it). My budget is still bordering on non-existent so replacing this stuff is virtually impossible right now so I need to call on all the petrolheads I can get in touch with to see if I can rustle up at least some of the missing hardware.
Obviously everything is custom made so I'm not expecting miracles but the interchangeable stuff might be more realistic:
DTA P8Pro engine management (I know it is a bit old but that is what I had and the wiring is ready for it and it works with the dashboard I have)
Solid state trigger fire extinguisher, power pack and activator (even if the canister is discharged - mine was never used but would be bordering on need of a recharge anyway by now)
Solid state battery isolator kit (before anyone asks - a manual cable operated switch is an option but they are so unreliable it just scares me now)
Narrow side mount race seat (I'm going to use a new one but I need something to sit in while setting the car up and moving it around) + mounting brackets
Fuel tank (probably the longest shot as anything anyone else has is unlikely to fit)
Pitboard letters (I actually have a board but nothing to put on it)
Jerry cans
Tool chest
I know it's asking a lot but I'm really stuck at the moment
I also need to find a preparation workshop to work with in the Manchester area that knows how to bolt a racecar together properly and some engineering know-how as there are a few design headaches that never got solved
So thanks in advance to all who reply and my gratitude for reading
