That impreza did Very well to stay in front and then try and keep up with you I know how quick you and the car are so it was surprising to see how well the Subaru was going, looked like he was out for a Sunday drive for while hardly even sliding.

Awesome car. Do you ever find you have to be careful letting the clutch out on downshifts without blipping it?

I find heel and toeing does not make any difference on the Sunbeam, on some other cars I drive, like Craig Davies's 65 Corvette, it is complulsary to heel and Toe, otherwise shes locks the rear end on every downshift.

I was going to say, i've had some outings in historic touring cars (pre-'66), and in those you have to heel and toe, it helps so much in being able to brake later. Never driven anything with a sequential box so was curcious, thanks! smile

Its not a sequential in the Sunbeam, its an H Pattern 6 speed Hewland Dogbox, the same box that was fitted to the BMW World Touring Cars, like Mat Jackson's one in the BTCC a few seasons ago. It works better the faster you slam it into the next gear. Up the box the clutch is not really needed, just a slight lift.
Down the box I use the clutch though, to enable controlled engine breaking.
