Ouch - sounded like a fairly hard hit there!! Much damage done? What happened with the Porsche there then?

Enjoyed the video from Snett mind - good battle with JOhn WIlson - I know the second race was a cracker! wink

Hi Dave,

The Porsche driver was Danny's brother Brett, i have watched the footage over and over myself and feel it was an unfortunate racing insident, Brett had overtaken at least 4 cars in the same place coming from the back of the grid, and at the time he had commited to overtake he saw what he thought was room to make a safe pass,Joss did nothing wrong and held is line moving to the right,if you watch the rear of Joss's car it moves to the right of the circuit then straighten up as Brett moves to the right,Brett ran out of room and put a wheel on the grass collecting Joss.

The problem with cars like the old Porsche turbo's is they suffer from alot of turbo lag and one he had commited the move it was too late,I know one this for sure at the speed he and Joss were doing he would not have tried to overtake if he didn't think it would be safe ?

Comments like that on you tube are not needed unless you were there and saw the incident ?

It's a real shame it ended like this and hope Joss's can isn't too badly damaged, and hope he feels the same ?

PS

Danny will be in the Sagaris at Donington for your Dads memorial race,

See you there.

An unfourtunate racing incident in my eyes, I expected to get passed on the back straight by Brett, he clearly had more pace than me and there was no point holding him up. I glanced in the mirror and started to move over to the inside to give him a clear run down the outside, to then glance again and see him acclerate like he'd hit the NOS button when it came on boost and was actually going for the inside, so I immediately straighted up hoping he would have room or back out the move on the inside.

Anyway its all done and dusted in my eyes with no hard feelings. I was dissapointed though Brett or Danny did not come over to see me and shake hands and get it delt with on the day.
I certainly did not think Brett's driving was anything to make any official complaint about and didn't.
The clerk did not speak to me atall till after Danny had been delt with.
I would only suggest maybe waiting that millisecond bit longer before commiting and it may prevent similar incidents and won't cost much time either.
Hope to catch up with you sometime soon
cheers
Joss

Joss, It was Brett who was driving and i totally agree in everything you have just posted, It was our first time out with you guys and Brett's first ever race meeting, The first race he was leading and had to retire due to a broken throttle cable, this put him at the back of the grid for the second race.
The race was very difficult with the Alfa,s being put on the back of the grid and everyone including your self had alot to think about passing the slower cars,i witnessed 3 cars side by side exiting devels elbow.

Because Brett had made similar overtaking moves in the same place he wrongly thought you would keep left and had no time to back out once the big old turbo spooled up,

I have watched some of your other footage from Brands and Oulton on you tube and a similar thing could have happend on any of thoes races, you are very experienced and race very close, Brett has not got the experience you have but will certainly learn from the accident at Mallory,

The old Porsche is my car and when it does come on boost it is like hitting the NOS button the only thing is it is very laggy and is not as responsive as a NA car even when you lift off.

The reason we did not come over to see you is that we thought you had made the complaint to the C/C and we did not know what to expect being the new team and having the incident, and after reading your post now wished we had done,

Realy wished this incident did not have happend and would love to turn the clock back in time,

Brett went for 2 signitures but endend up with 2 points on his licence.

The main thing is no one was hurt and if we ever meet up again i will and Brett will most certainly shake your hand.

Regards

Craig

+1 ...... Good to see a reasonable discussion. People so often get upset after incidents. I was spectating at Gerards exit when this happened and the discussion confirms what I saw.

Sad to see damage to two nice cars. Always look forward to seeing the Bullet in action so hopefully out again soon.

All the best,
Scott

Hiya Craig,

Hope you're well!? Didn't mean any mallice in my comment - I was wondering what happened to your brother as the Porsche seemed to have already snapped sideways before the impact out of sight of the camera - sounds like a very unfortunate accident, and as has been said 'one of them things'!! We've all seen them I'm sure!!

Glad you'll be at Dony - be good to see the new car too (Ask Danny if I can get a tow round off him in qually haha)

Hi Dave,

No offence in your comments taken at all,

Bretts my other son, I lost my brother to cancer last Feb, he was just like your dad never had a bad word to say about anyone a top guy, why does it have to happen to all the nice people ?
Takes some getting over especially when he was younger than me,

Get on the back of Danny's bumper mate for a good tow down crainer.

Knowing both partys involved, Im pleased that this has not turned into a slanging match & hope nothing else like this happens in classic thunder
Joss glad you still had a smile on your face as we left the circuit.

With the addition of the porsche it certainly made the first race some sight to behold
Starion, M3, 911 turbo, lotus sunbeam & my falcon where else can you see such a mix of yesterdays 'hero cars' been driven flat out ??

I must agree It was a fantastic looking grid.
Out the 20 CT starters there was 17 different variants of car.
Shame the Cox Seats, Craig's RS 500, Dennis's Corolla, Stacy's RX7 and the excluded ex Bristow Group A Sierra RS500 was not on the grid too.
We could just do with some more Super Tourers to come out, at least on the odd round. Spoke to Nick Williamson and he will definately be at Thruxton with us.
Maybe some of the quick Alfa guys may come back? I'm sure Rod will pop out the odd time, could really do with Darren Bly's Skyline on the grid to represent the Mighty GTR Skyline Marque.
It was a cracking event and lets hope the quality and diversity of entries keep coming in :'0)

Glad the damage to you and the car isnt too bad Joss, such a shame to see such a nice car damaged.

A real credit though at the way both you and the Porsche driver have delt with it post incident, makes me feel much happier about making my race debut some point in the future. Though it will be in something much slower then that awesome Porsche!

Joss, is the damage repairable in time for the Heritage GTCC at Donny this weekend? Hope to see you there.

Also, is your head/helmet OK? Looks like you clouted the door window.

Unfourtunately will now be a 4 week window to repair the damage and get new motor in. So will now have to drop Donington next weekend in the Heritage, will also miss the test/press day the following Wednesday, for the Modsports/Modsaloons/Thunder Saloon etc Revival race planned for the August bank Holiday by the CSCC. Hope I don't now loose my chance to be invited for the event because of being an absentee at the official test day. Will also miss a National Sprint meeting up Harewood Hill the following weekend. Plan to be back out for the next Heritage race at Brands, with Jules Westwood, on July 16th/17th.

It's the depth of grid that's impressive, not just the size. When we shook down the RX7 at Brands I remember turning to Will McAteer in collection for qualifying and saying "We could be last here".. Super challenge to be around.

Just watched this.

Don't see anything wrong with the exit of Gerrards onto the back straight from Jos, on the exit sitting in the middle of the track.

How the Porker driver simple drives into the back of the Sunbeam from a long way back does not really stack up. Should have been the easiet thing in the world to blow past with the extra speed that thing had.

First race and you let a kid loose in that thing!!!
