Hi folks,

I have been reviewing the classifieds section of pistonheads looking for a reliable club car that will double as a daily driver.

I am coming to the UK and will be buying a car that will allow me to attend club days at various tracks in the UK and Europe. I currently own an R32 Skyline back in Australia, and know Nissan Skyline and 200SXs best, but open to other makes for around 3-8k. Considering E36 M3s as well, but more then anything looking for the right car.

Other then this pistonhead classifieds are there any other websites, car clubs, or dealers who sell neatly modded Nissans with basic bolt ons like exhaust, oil coolers, suspension etc?

Plenty of place to buy club racing cars, it's the "daily driver" bit that's the problem.

I suspect he means trackdays not club racing series.

Thanks for the feedback...and to clarify, yes. Just open pit lane track days and drive days.

I believe there is a strong 200sx UK owners club website at http://www.sxoc.com I'm sure they'll know of plenty of cars for sale.

Thanks for the 200SX site link, plenty of good options...too bad they booted me of after only 12 hours. I suppose because I am on an OS IP address?

Well, thanks for your help to now. I think I have found the car. Will be checking out two the week after next and hopefully come Sunday will be in a position to drive off in one of them.

I have been reading http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/index.htm but its a bit of a nightmare for a person in my position.

I know I dont need a UK licence and understand the general MOT and tax side of things. Just need to confirm a non UK licence holder can indeed buy and own a car in the UK? Same goes for insurance?

Welcome any assistance you can offer

In the UK you can buy, own and MOT a car even if you're resident on Mars. However getting insurance in the UK is difficult without a UK address. You need insurance to tax a car (yearly road fund licence)

With tax, insurance & MOT you are good to go

Thanks for the clarification. I am talking to Hagerty and Heritage insurance at the moment and hoping they can help me out with insurance. I am 35, never been booked and only had one claim about 12 years ago...soo typically an insurers dream.

Will see what their response is. Now to find somewhere in Lancashire to do a mechanical check for me, mostly compression check engine.

Thanks for your help people!

Well Flux, Hagerty, Heritage etc all knocked me back. Even with offers of 1500 pound excess etc they are not interested. Looks like the sale is going to fall through because of insurance. So frustrated that I have sent two weeks speaking to insurance companies and none can help out.

Try MMC Insurance - they mainly do motorsport insurance but they may have connections with companies that "MMC Andy" posts on here & is a racer.
