Thinking of heading there tomorrow as a spectator and take a few snaps.

Anyone any experience of it? Good place to stand? How is it for spectators?

Thanks

very spectator friendly, paddock is totally open, and all bar the first short section of the hill is available to the spectator.
Triangle is the most popular viewpoint, seating benches, bar, butty vans etc and a great view of the downhill section into the very slow Triangle bend.
Cedar Straight is great to watch the fastest cars on, the big single seaters shower sparks as the downforce shove sthem into the tarmac. Also 'straight' is a misnomer ;-).
Fallow Bend is at the end of Cedar straight, a 90deg left, at the end of the fastest section, and a nasty little bump just before it, always worth a look, and greta potential for incident.
Finally Museum bend, is the rising 130deg right, fed by a blind brow and running into the flying finish.

Oh, and yes, it is my favourite hill, to drive and spectate at.
You wont be disappointed

IIRC, when some friends came to watch me compete there last year it cost £12/head to get in. I could be wrong, though.

12 quid. Practice day was free, but that's it. Competitive events never are.

Loton is beautifully picturesque and is one of the most friendly places out. Hillclimbing has the nicest atmosphere of any motorsport IMO, the way you can just waltz around the paddock having a close look over some fine machines (SWB Quattros, 430 Scuderia and lots more) is just amazing.

The single seaters of course, are also something else. But although Loton is good, I'd say both Prescott and Shelsley (the other two Midland hills) are better for spectators.

i love shelsley to drive, but you have to be part mountain goat to spectate! its lethal in the wet coming down the spectator areas, been on my arse numerous times!
That said if it rains hard, the paddocks like the shallow end of our local kiddies pool and the trailer park is 4x4 territory to get the car and trailer out, but still has a great feel of yesteryear, difficult to explain.
