Caterhams without a doubt. I don't know of another series that involves 40 cars charging round in a swarm for the whole half hour, slipstreaming on the straights and driving three abreast round the corners. Everything's there for very close racing: rubbish aero so the tow is all important, closely matched cars and full grids.

Sadly, I can't afford to race my Caterham any longer, but I'll still go and spectate when I can as it's just so entertaining!
If thats your type of racing, but you cant afford to do it the expensive way in a Caterham, why not come Locost racing and do exactly the same for cheaper? And after all the mentions for the 750MC Im surprised nobody has given the Locosts a shout... But then this time Im biased!
Matt, can you give me some more info on the locost racing please, or a link?

I'm just about to build the first of 2 locost's with a friend and racing them has deffinately been a thought buzzing around in my head, so more info from someone thast doing it would be grately appreciated (ie costs per event yada yadda)

RGB's get my vote!

I also love the Locost racing! As they are usually at the same 750 meeting, you can watch both! smile

Have you thought about Vee instead of F4?
I have to confess I haven't, no. What is the performance of the cars like?
Come and have a look at Donington, We will be in the garages. They are great fun and the racing is very close throughout the field. Its very friendly grass roots club racing. Not as fast as the F4 on the straight but much lighter so we catch them in the corners when we test together.
F4 grids are better this year than last but FVee grids are always full and most of the time have to run a heat and a final. So if your midfield you get two races for the price of one.

Top that!

WATCH.

I watch hardly any races when I race - never have the time or inclination. Personal thing but the only race worth watching is from the inside of my own car.

Unless it is WSBK's or MotoGP of course.

Not enough grids of big banger racing that are all close enough to make it worth watching - most races just get split up early - Tuscans in the 90's was just about the only thing I could watch.

I see where you're coming from, but there are some great racing championships out there to spectate at. Tuscans were great, yes yes The UK Carrera Cup is well worth watching, as are Caterham Roadsports and Minis. Some of the historic touring car and single seater races are hugely entertaining as well. smile

Carerra - what in telly when BTCC is on - not enough cars and a few fast battle at the front - not enough to want to watch it live - I usually FWD past it.

Caterham presume are close - but I got turned of the thing when they used to dominate the Admittedly CRAP Jag meeting in a 40 min race. The top Rung ofthe ladder was Mega though in the 90's / used to be on the same bill as the Tuscans.

If you race you hardly have to to go to other meeting - if you have any life at all outside of racing (your own).

Single seater - you have to be kidding - unless they have big engine i.e. F5000 pointless - just a load of knats buzzing about.

Sadly that's very true, yes. I've only seen the Caterhams and Minis because they've been racing when I have. The Carrera cup is televised, and back when Westbrook was racing Harvey it was hugely entertaining, with very high standards of driving at the front.

Ah for got to say on Championship I would have time for watching is the Mini Miglias - MONSTERS and packs of very close cars. Love Mini's.

Too many one make frigging championship IMHO.

Miglia's are some of the Fastest REAL World cars racing in the UK. 100x time better to watch than some DULL (but massively fast) GT Type racing for instance.....

I try to watch one or two if I can to support the other drivers, but it's more to take my mind away as I find it really hard to stay settled at race meetings. About the only place I feel calm and collected is in the car, which is a big change from my first season last year!

My least favourite racing to watch is actually the series I race in, purely because if I'm watching I'm not racing! Made the mistake of watching a race last year that I'd not entered purely because I decided I didn't want to lay out the cash at that time... BIG mistake, it was so crushing to watch everyone else having so much fun when I could have been out there.

I can't say I've really watched it as I am stcuk in one of the cars... but with 35cars on the grid the Kumho BMW champsionship has to make for a pretty good spectacle?

A black & flourecent orange BMW very similar to the one pictured above (left) had a nasty end to a two-day trackday at Spa on Tuesday. Watching the circuit video, it looked like something (suspension possibly?) collapsed at the end of Kemmel Straight when it came time to apply the stoppers to get around the chicane. Fortunately both driver and passenger walked away unscathed although I think they may be very stiff and/or sore now...

As for best Club racing to watch, I tend to do most of it from the Fauldsport camp - Caterham Roadsports. Some really good/close racing cool

Another Championship i watched on motors is the GT Cup they have 30 cars on the grid and you don't have to put up with hour races or longer its just 2 30 min sprints and the racing was excellent to another worth having a look atsmile

I was down at Mallory for a monposto race a couple months ago, the race encountered a bit of rain which closed things up a bit. The most dull races of the day was swinging 60's and the jags what a load of horse s&%t. Legends are decent to watch, RGB is a good spectate, minis another good one, caterhams sound. Depends what your into, if the cars set-up right on race day and you casn get to watch other race its a good way of seeing different lines etc. Exposure wether it be watching or competeing is the name of the game and the more you get the better the idea you get. Watched the touring cars at knockhill a few years back and realised i could get the car right over the kurb on one of the corners, it showed me things outside the box.

Someone say fauldsport and caterhams. If any other series has 13 cars in luffield 2 half way through a race stand up now. Almost (!) no contact as well.
