Hi all,

I recently had a fight with a curb and have been told that I need to get a police report in order to get the scrape on the undercarriage fixed of my car fixed. Does anyone know of any repair shops in Mussaffah Abu Dhabi that might touch it up with no police report?

Cheers

I was under the impression that you can get anything repaired without a police report providing you're paying for it yourself (ie not an insurance job)?

Thanks guys, I may try my luck and see what the score is. The guys at work reckoned that even if it's a scratch most workshops won't touch it without a report - there must be some that will!

I don't know if this helps...but...

I damaged my car's rear driver side wing a few weeks ago...and got a police report and took it to the Liberty bodyshop in Mussafah. When I was there, I asked them to also fix another small dent in the passenger side front wing. So obviously, the police report covered the damage to the back but not the front one...but they were happy to repair both. So that might suggest that they would have been happy to repair the front one had I just taken it in there without a police report. Or it might mean that they've got a police report and can then fix anything, related to that accident or not.

The other point to make...I really don't think it's a problem to phone the police and ask for a report to be made...as it's just a curbing incident, just tell them you've just done it.

But make sure there is a mark on the kerb that matches your car otherwise they may suspect you bumped it elsewhere.

Won't he get a red slip and therefore a fine in that instance though?

You can get it done without a police report. My sister's SLK suffered damage from a paving slab on the SZR(!). The SUV in front just swerved at the last moment and she saw it too late to avoid it. The front left spoiler was dented (but you had to crouch down to see it). Took it to a couple of Al Qouz garages who all were happy to knock the dent out and respray it. AED1200 and 36 hours later job done.

You can get a police report if you want to claim on insurance. Dont worry about showing them the exact kerb which may or may not have paint from your car.

On the contrary, you should worry about that. I speak from very bitter personal experience.

Thanks guys, I'm just going to suck it and see. Worst case scenario I'll go and get a report. Will post what the outcome is!
