Anybody heading down to Yas this weekend to watch the mighty GT1's ably supported by the local GT, sportscar and touring car championship? The GT1 cars are right noisy beasts and they put on rather a good show last year (especially when you are on the pit wall and they come past you less than 2 meters away at full chat).

As a result of an e-mail from Sods & Murphy's Law firm, I will be out of the country at a seminar. Why did my company have to pick this weekend? Why, why, Scully, its a conspiracy I tell you.

Right, time to prepare the presentation before my 2am flight.

I'm planning on going tomorrow. Last year I only made it to the Friday qualifying sessions but it was still a great day out (apart from a spectacularly horrific crash right in front of us at the end of the long straight).

Shame you can't make it this year.

Thankfully yes. I had a big one in testing, but the car was put back together. Paul had a bigger one the following day in the race but amazingly walked away.

Any news or results available? Nothing on the DAMC web site (wonder why that could be...)

The papers said Al Mutawwa won GTB class, but I heard this morning that he got disqualified for an illegal overtake on the MSW Porsche, so the GTB title goes to Jon Simmonds. Ghanem had a no-contest in GTC as both we and Rob Cregan did not enter this round. All credit to him - he got through the season which is more than can be said for the rest of us. Karim of course had already won GTA.

I heard Andre wiped out in the touring cars so I'm guessing Khalid Bin Hadher cleaned up. Don't know what happened in class 2. I see on Petrolheads that Gareth from A2B got a podium - congrats!

I was playing golf at Yas Links with these guys providing a glorious soundtrack in the background.

Not the sort of conditions I wanted to be playing golf in, let alone piloting a race car, very windy and awful viz!
