Bezzing round in the new motor tonight then off camping to Musandam tomorrow. Although most of my weekends do turn out like yours Chilli, with added red wine and less gardening.

PS how feckin hot has it been today?

Ah yes, forgot the red wine! I'n rationing the wine as we're spending silly amounts on alcohol.
Yeah, someone has definately turned up the sun today.....feels more humid as well.

Unfortunately has not turned out to be a quiet one for me.

Just hit the wall in testing this morning. Somehow they've patched it up so hopefully we will make the grid tomorrow. Bit shaken, though - first time for me and not sure if I have the will to go flat through turn 4 ever again...

Come on down, chaps. The Autodrome is really quite good value, well it's free.... smile Racing starts after lunch.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Was it a one-off...ie normal pace but something unusual?

Autodrome does sound good. Stupid question, but will I be allowed to take the dog in? He's only small and will be on a lead!

Qualifying pace, nothing unusual. Experimenting with set up but the line was good and the data trace doesn't show anything funny, though I probably should take a second look. There were a lot of marbles off line, and it's possible I may have picked some up as the car went out wide on the transition from turn 4 to 5. Anyway I'm just speculating now. Wrote up the first half of my blog this evening just to get it all off my chest and help me to focus for tomorrow.

Dunno about dogs. Deffo not allowed in the pit lane - not sure about garages (never seen one there). I'm sure there's no issue in the paddock, but you never know. Don't go to the grandstand, it's so boring there. Go to the paddock side and roam the grounds to get different vantage points.

st no, I'll be playing Heiniken in the grass whilst it's going on in the background!

The autodrome is good crack, used to go down and watch my old neighbour race, Rod Scott, sure you'll know him Irfan, Papa Rod the biker?

Glad you're ok, metal can be fixed, good luck tomorrow.

Turn 4 on which layout? I've tracked the Mustang on the club circuit, can't imagine it was club though if I remember turn 4 correctly on that layout!

Papa Rod is a legend! Anyone who races bikes at his age is bonkers, though he had a bad smash about a year ago and hasn't raced since I think.

Turn 4 is not on the club circuit - it's on the GP and the National. Long right hand sweeper over the crest of a hill. Also known as Porsche Corner.

We had a second big one in the race today: Paul's stint in the second half, brakes failed at around 230-240kph into turn 1 - not sure why, may be related to yesterday's incident. Lots of damage - I doubt we'll finish the season. Paul was a bit shaken and had blurred vision for a while, but he's walking and no headaches. Phew, was a scorcher as well - 37 centigrade!

Yeah he was in a bad way after that, wheelchair stuff but not permanently.

He has moved back to the UK now I think.

Good luck getting the car back in a raceable state.

Harris,

Time to get Cobolt Blue out for a track day, and anyway, we need you to keep writing your excellent race reports.

I wish! Cobalt was the donor for many of the parts and panels, so is sitting looking very miserable in the ARM workshop....

Hope you're all okay again after this. It sounded very frightening. Are you at Yas this weekend?
