Very, very straightforward, in fact fecking boring. Speed limit is only 10km/h above the shown limit, so be careful. Having said that, fines are only AED100.
Once on the dual cariageway, its straight for 20km's or so, then a round-a-bout, then another 20km's and another round-a-bout.
Thanks for that. Did you enjoy Muscat? Where did you stay?Once on the dual cariageway, its straight for 20km's or so, then a round-a-bout, then another 20km's and another round-a-bout.

Yes, it's boring at best and a bit of a nightmare at worst. We did it at night after a tiring day at work. Driving standards seemed even worse than Dubai and there were countless people ambling across the highway with pushbikes and stuff. The road was poorly lit and I also seem to recall quite a few speed bumps that just seemed to come out of nowhere with no warning signs or markings on them.We didn't have time to look into it, but I think there may be alternative routes back to Dubai that don't involve that boring dual carriageway.
Enjoy Muscat!

First person ive heard actually like it, its miles from town and the food is another level of expensive.
I had 4 prawns the other night for 20RO, thankfully i wasnt paying.
We chose the hotel based on numerous recommendations we received. As for location it was perfect for us. Fresh air, stunning mountain scenery and open views of the Gulf of Oman. A refreshing change from built up inner city Dubai. As for miles away from town, we did it in 20 minutes during off peak hours. Hardly a lengthy drive considering we drove from Dubai to Muscat in the first place. Granted the food is on the pricey side, but I don't mind paying if the quality is top notch and that it was. Will definitely return. I had 4 prawns the other night for 20RO, thankfully i wasnt paying.
