We have good friends that pop over there every now and then and happily take our order. However, I have simply refused to go. Call me a homo etc, but if there was 1 person on this planet that would get busted, raped, deported, it's me.

So, do you go or are you happy with A&E?

PS - In need of 2 cases of red, 2 white, 2 boxes of beers, 1 bottle of JD, 1 Jin and 1 Vodka.

Cheers friends.

Been going regularly for the past three years. Never had even a hint of a problem. And prices are cheaper than in the UK, a lot of the time.

I go a couple of times a year - never had a problem. One of my colleagues was in an accident on his way back last week though and it was a close call getting the booze out of the boot and into another car before the cops arrived!

I too have been going for 3 years or so. On route back to Dubai I always take the Outer Ring road, avoiding central Sharjah at all costs.

Does anyone know what would actually happen if you were involved in an accident outside Dubai with booze in the car? Are we talking a fine or even jail?

True story, not a friend of a friend type of story but an actual friend of ours got bumped by a black Rangie in SHJ on the way back.

Funny thig was, he has a booze license so the Po Po came and let him go.

He has the license for safety when transporting but goes to Barracuda because it is more than 30% cheaper.

I heard the alcohol license is only valid in Dubai. Worthless outside.

This is who we use and they're excellent.
In fact, we have an order going in either today or tomorrow, drop me a PM if you want to combine?

I go roughly once every 2 months, spend around 5k and it saves me over a grand. Gotta be worth it?

That does seem a fair old amount, unless you're buying quality of course!

I spend maybe 3k every six months but I'm trying to stop drinking at home so hoping to eek out what I've got for a few months more as when its there I can't help but drink it!

I don't have that much of a drinking problem. I think!

We don't go out that much, maybe once a month to a swanky restaurant so there is no weekend boozing on top of this.

I do get through a fairly decent bottle of Islay's finest every month while chillaxing in my man-shed; that has got to be a grands worth of the bill right there.

At least 2 dinner parties per month, with 6 bottles of plonk at around 100dhs each is almost another 2.5k.

Leaves 1500 for recreational beer/wine, cooking spirits and a couple bottles of fizz.

No problem at all.

If I drank 30k per year in Apres or any other hotel bar I would get less than a pint for me and a glass of wine for the Mrs per day.

Yeah, I guess that's normal!
We got 2,200 worth from barracuda when our friends went. That was 18 red, 18 white and 2 cases of beers. This is alomost gone after about a month. Like you say 5 or 6 bottles goes when you have a few people round. Actually, I got a bottle of Gin, JD and Vodka from A&E aswell, so been "using" that a bit.

Must cut down...that doesn't sound too good...
