Along the 311, Cruise on at 130....and was being slowly caught by a black 4x4. No worries, I'll just get past these few cars and pull in. Nope, didn't get the chance. The 4x4 sat up my arse and a million flashes began.
Nothing new here I hear you saying, and you're right. However, the culprit? A young and very pretty blonde....English, Swedish, who knows....but come on love, you weren't taught to drive like that (hopefully) and and it really isn't big or clever to try and copy the locals.
You should know better.

Yeah, sorry but was having a leisurely stroll in this morning.
I don't think she was out to impress, as she refused to glace sideways and see me pressed up against my window ranting and raving!

Careful what you guys mouth or mime to people out here.

I once tapped my finger to my head (ie "you're mental") as a white Landcruiser with an expensive reg plate bullied his way past, and the guy swerved across and brake tested me on the SZR (he locked up, tyre smoke everywhere, deserved a jail sentence IMO). I get the impression drivers of blacked out SUVs strobing smaller cars in the outside lane are massively insecure, so just bite your lip.

I've also mimed the international standard signal for "slow down" to another guy once and in the subsequent argument he accused me of gesturing obscenely at him. It would have been his word against mine and I'm not sure what the coppers would have done had someone else not stepped in and defused it.

Very true. When I first arrived, I lost it and gave a guy the finger...wouldn't do that now though.

I couldn't cope with driving out here. I would fall foul of the law very, very quickly. I get wound up easily enough by idiotic drivers in the UK let alone the complete half-wits that are out here. Thankfully I am only out for a few weeks at a time and my colleague does the driving. What is it about roundabouts and lane discipline that the Arabs and Indians don't get?

Brilliant aren't they? "I won't bother to stop at this roundabout...I'm only taking the next exit, that car will stop".
The thing is, the test is pathetic. Drive in a straight line, and stop. As long as you've paid enough into the system , ie had enough lessons, and as long as not too many people have passed that day, BINGO, you've passed.
