recommended shipping co.?

morning all.

in preparation for moving out to dub, I'm in need of a good shipping company. I'm told I need 3 quotes and my employer will pick up the tab.

I'm not bringing any furniture and my main concern is my record collection and hifi. just forked out a few hundred on flight cases such is the importance to me.

ideally, I'm looking for one who'll fabricate a shipping crate around these rather than use a tea chest & fill the gaps.I also want it fully insured.

any good/bad experiences to share?

We moved out to Al Ain (Abu Dhabi) in august 2010 and used Britannia Thomas Casserleys. They were excellent - they surveyed the house in advance, packed the contents of our 3 bed house in 2 days, shipped it to Dubai, handled all the customs clearance etc and all for just over GBP3500 (which significantly undercut the other quotes we received).

They packed everything very carefully and the only casualties were one plate and a vase (which was damaged before hand). Wholeheartedly recommended.

Bloke I worked with had it shipped out, all was fine until it came to the AUH port clearance, and some genius of a forklift driver decided to stick a fork through the flatscreen.

I'd supervise the unloading if you can!

oh dear! aye, the office is by the port and as they (work) containerise plant in and out so I guess they'll have that side of things covered.

another wedge of cash spent today on suitcases. bloody expensive do, moving!
