Is that the right word? No idea.
Anyways, has anyone got/done one? We're moving to a new villa and this has been suggested although I'm not even sure if it's possible at the new location. Is it as simple as getting some bloke round, letting him drill, add a pipe and a pump, and voila I have an outside tap connected to a free supply?

Nice! I had a look at some pics on dubizzle and it seemed to still be a bit, er, sandy. Guessing they've done a bit of a tidy up now.
I agree, there are large parts that have yet to be landscaped. They are cracking on though, and it changes for the better every day. At least all the building work around us has been completed! It will be bliss living away from the flightpath and further than 100 yards from a Mosque. I can't remember the last time I slept well.Hitch78 said:
Ahhhh - some super bargains up that way I see.
For the uninitiated, how far is Dubai Land from Jumeirah Lake? Our new office is in JLT and I have free choice of where I live, but it has to be "reasonable commuting distance" from the office.
I have a budget from the company for housing that I can then top up if I wish and looking on Dubizzle the prices for a decent villa in Dubai Land look pretty good.
Where else would you suggest for accommodation? some of the other guys are going for apartments on the Palm, but I'm not really a fan of apartments and would rather a villa.
Re: the borehole.
I looked at having one installed when we had our lawn redone a few months back - I was told by 3 different blokes that because of the development over the last period, Al Barsha was now pretty useless as the water was brackish as the water table has dropped.
They also said that the further away from the city you are, the more likely you are to get better quality water - you'll probably be ok Chilli but make sure they do a test hole first to make sure the water is ok.

Chilli,
MotorCity has a ban on satelite dishes but how many can can you see when you are driving round. Answer: Loads. People are bound to install boreholes, so I would be to bothered.
Go for a submersible pump as these are much quieter and hide the pipe coming out of the ground by building a feature around it.

Thanks Gents,
I'm definately putting my dishes up. It's handy that we have internal stairs onto the roof, so can't see anyone noticing. They're only small dish's anyway.
Re the water, once again, who cantell. Should anyone ask, it's an outside tap, and no, you can't dig it up to check!

What are the options in terms of TV.... is there a decent range of English channels available via dish, what's the cost?MotorCity has a ban on satelite dishes but how many can can you see when you are driving round. Answer: Loads. People are bound to install boreholes, so I would be to bothered.

Yep, that's pretty much it...we're just to the right of the Al Ain road. For reference, it takes 12mins from my new place to Uptown Mirdif.
Errr...isn't that where the UPS 747 'landed'?K50 DEL said:

When I bought the package, I had about 1800 channels, of which I watched about 30! However, there was about 25 adult channels too...which made up for it!Then one day it stopped working and despite severla polite requests I was ignored. Not a great deal I can do about it, given that I don't think I was supposed to have them.
I'm taking the equipment and the dish's as a mate can install them so I at least have a dozen or so. Then I'll look into getting the usual deals from Du...but not sure how many channels they have. I watch too much tely anyway.
