24hr Races Dubai Autodrome
Discussion
In Dubai for a 3 week assignment in January and would like to watch some part of the 24hr GT races held on the 13/14/15 Jan. Looking at the Dub Autodrome website I cannot seem to see where to obtain tickets in advance. I have emailed the customer service contact but in the interim does anyone know if/where tickets can be obtained in advance or is it simply turn up and pay? Anyone attended the 24hr before?
Thanks...
Thanks...
Hello mate,
I went last year...erm, there is absolutely no need to buy tickets. Just turn up, park up, and walk in! During the first few hours (or daylight) there'll be a few hundred people watching, then during the night, this drops to a few dozen. Honestly, I have no idea why as it is excellent. A felloow PH'er was part of the pit crew of a team last year....not sure if he is again, but I will find out.

Something for free in Dubai - things must have changed since I was there last! Thanks for that, perfect, I will probably turn up for a night session on the Thursday or Friday. Should be quite a sight to see some of the VLN/GT cars at night.Kieran said:

Perhaps a bar-bee etc would the the order of the day...maybe sneak a few beers in.
A PH meet...tis the way forward!
I was there with the Dual Racing Team (Clio Cup Car). What an experience, 5 hours sleep in 72 hrs, finishing 2nd in class, sat on the pit wall at 4am doing lap timing in shorts and a t-shirt (yes I was cold!). Did I enjoy it, heck yes, so much so that I ran the pit wall for a team in the Silverstone 24 hr race.

If you can, volunteer to help with a team as they need more than just mechanics (taking wheels to Dunlop for new tyres, making tea / coffee, lap timing etc).
No tickets required, keep checking the Autodrome web site as they may offer free passes which makes it even easier to get into the paddock area.
I will be back there again in January, I will confirm which team and garage nearer the time.
