2000 tier miles on Emirates Airlines

It's coming up to year end and I need 2,000 tier miles to maintain Skywards Gold.

Rather fancy flying to Damascus for a quick weekend.

Anyone have any thoughts on routes which Emirates serve? Nothing too far (say within 4 hours flight)?

Other requirements are:

- no advance visa requirements (visa on arrval for British passport ok)
- airport close to city so no long transit times


How about Beirut or even Mumbai...?

Loads of options - Larnaca, Nairobi, Sri Lanka, etc all within 4 hours

Beirut is a good shout though - visa on arrival and a great city; ski season may even have started - that's where I'd go

How about Amman? You could always do the Dead Sea and Petra?

Cheers fellas. Looking at Beirut now. Damascus needs a visa, dont have time to go to AD to get one. Visa on arrival is a real nightmare from the forums which I have read. Jordan is lovely, did that earlier this year. Rented a car and a GPS and drove the whole length of the country from Jerash to Petra.
