Horrible accident at the end of the UAE Sportbikes at the Dubai Autodrome today.
It resulted in the death of Pascal Grosjean, of the nicest and funniest guys in the paddock. He'd just won the race on a 600 against guys racing 1000cc machines.
It really, really sucks and the national race days won't be nearly as much fun without him around.
RIP Gros-Gros, and best wishes to Tony Jordan, the other guy involved in the accident, who's in a pretty bad way too.

Tragic accident, I was on the pit wall when it happened and I have heard first hand accounts of how it happened. I am not going to post what happened here it would not be right to do so.

Really tragic. I am so deeply sorry for his family.

I pray Tony Jordan recovers soon.

Makes us reflect on how fragile our existence really is.

Man, that's awful. I read (7 days I think) that it was an accident on the lap AFTER the race had finished...Awful.
Not sure whereI got this from but didn't he also beat many 1000cc bikes on a 600? Given that the Autodrome is a fast curcuit, that's some gonig.

RIP chap, and the bestest wishes to the guy in serious trouble in hospital.

The configuartion they were racing on didn't use the long back straight and there were loads of linked corners so the 1000 cc bikes could only stretch their legs once per lap. Also there was the Qatar superbike championship race on at Losail where the top 2 1000 cc bike riders were riding. Still Pascal did just ride off into the distance. Jason Burnside on a 600cc Honda finsihed 2nd overall as well.
