I presume used, right?

40k gets you an early leggy Boxster (still a great drive but you need to keep an eye out for leaks in case the RMS decides to do one), or a newer S2000 - great noise when you crank it up.

Convertible E46 beemers? Lovely cars, I quite fancy one right now, in fact.

Just had a hunt on dubizzle. Lots of Mini Coopers in your price range, a Clio 182, a 350Z, a couple of Boxsters, convertible 325i.

Damn, must stop surfing for cars.

Cant disagree with Harris, if you can get an S2000 that would be great buy. Early Z4's arent that far off your budget. Mechanically good but awful interiors.

Hmmm, like the sound of a Boxster...and a mimi cooper. Would the Boxster be typically Porsche expensive to run/repair?

Tis a cracking car, but a bit too nice for the Mrs to pop to the shops and back!

hehe

I was thinking of a late 80's early 90's Vette although I doubt there would be many good ones around.

How about giving her the X5 and then you get something!!?? No?

http://tnydu.biz/DOfh95 A bit over your budget but close...

http://tnydu.biz/DOfgzG Perfect! (IMO) 35K Although the add reads it has been painted matt black....??

What about a Audi TT?

TT is a good shout,....can't find a nice looking one though. This is my problem, I want a 100k car for 40k!

Mini convertible would be the ideal choice as it has the extra litle seats in the back and women like them.
