Looking to rent an apartment (one or two bedrooms) in Dubai. Close to Jebel Ali would be very convenient. Can anyone recommend a good place to start the hunt? Any experiences highly appreciated!
Cheers,
Chris

Better Homes was the best we found, and when I say best...they were average. Have a look on Dubizzle and PropertyfinderUAE.

Good luck.

I know of someone who has a fully furnished 1 bed in Downtown (nearish the Khalifa Tower) that has just come up for rent - I know she prefers shorter terms but it might be worth speaking with her - I've been there a few times and it's nice.

Check Dubizzle for appartments in the Marina or JBR for a half-decent place convinient to JAFZ.

Lower budget is Gebel Ali Gardens, but the neighborhood has gone downhill if you believe the tabloids!

Hamptons weren't too bad to deal with. They also seem to be more or less the sole agents for quite a few of the Emaar buildings in Dubai Marina, if that's of any interest?

Dubizzle might save you a few quid in agency fees (if you can find a private landlord on there) but it will involve a lot of legwork i.e. traipsing around one apartment at a time. Hamptons or Better Homes will show you around 6 or 7 places in a couple of hours, once you know the area you want to live.

Hamptons is owned by Emaar, that is why they get sole rights for many of those buildings, I used to work for them.

I would honestly start with Dubizzle, my old boy has just found a new place on there, straight from the landlord so saved himself 5%.

I'm going to be in the market for a 2 bed in Springs in a few months and Dubizzle carries so many more listings than any of the places you would think to look.

I moved in the summer and found that Better Homes had the best choice (wanted to move to Arabian Ranches / MotorCity). Always cross check dubizzle with two agencies as some agenies have the same property as say Better Homes but the rental price is higher (try AED20k more for rent of AD120K!!!!!)
