Hello Sam.
Given that you're near the airport, I'd head to the Irish village. It might be quieter than when I went on a Friday, and it's quite near where you are.
Personally, I hated it, but then you're probably younger and more sociable then I am.
If you don't mind a 20 cab ride and your lovely wife is not with you, head to the Rattlesnake at the Metropolitan...gets quite lively!

The madinat is a good call actually. Also, there's a couple of good bars at the base of the Burj Khalifa. We was a thte Left bank on Friday....loads of ladies seem to enjoy the place.
Tomorrow....The usual, Burj Khalifa, Jumarah beach, the marina for a dhow cruise (1 hour and about a tennor)The Dubai mall for a few pressies and a look at the largest aquarium in the world...Perhaps a trip to The Mall of the Emirates for a look at the ski slope. The Alpine bar is nice!
Oh, and if you're into horses, let me know and I'll get the mrs to book you a lesson!

Souq al Bahar is actually just as good (almost) as Madinat and is not too far from the airport. As mentioned it has all the decent lady-filled bars such as Left Bank and is also a great place to dine/watch the Dubai Fountain/marvel at the height of the Burj.Tomorrow....The usual, Burj Khalifa, Jumarah beach, the marina for a dhow cruise (1 hour and about a tennor)The Dubai mall for a few pressies and a look at the largest aquarium in the world...Perhaps a trip to The Mall of the Emirates for a look at the ski slope.
