Following a succesful little side-trip to Dubai a couple of weeks ago I think I'm going to do it again and take in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the same time, any tips gratefully received.

Choose a high seat in the middle of a corner complex so that you're not just watching cars go 'nnnnnnyyyyyaaaaaaaammmmmmmoooooowwwww' from left to right as I was last year.

Make the most of the weekend and get into the fans/F1 village during the day and stay for the concerts - I could have rubbed Steve Tylers legs last year if I'd tried...though the wife was with me for Beyonce which would have been a much more promising opportunity.

Try to get there on the practise day as it's the only day you can walk about a bit and see different bits of the track. Quali and race views are limited to your seat and any other vantage points you can get to in your stand.

Beer is available but some of the bars are rammed. Last year proved that an extra five minutes walk to a quieter spot can save you twenty in the scrum.

Be prepared to be subjected to a piss poor park and ride system where British people queue and nobody else does. Again it's often better to walk the 2 or 3kms back to the car.

I really enjoyed it last year and am hoping to go again but the buddies I went with might be heading back to the UK by then - fingers crossed!

South Grandstand Upper. You see 40 seconds+ of the lap through the marina.

Don't eat the food.

Last year West Grandstand this year North Grandstand. I found being on the exit better exspecially if you were right at the end because there was additional standing room so you more space and it was easier to take photographs.
