I'll be in Dubai from the 10th to 16th Aug. Working during the day, but free on an evening!

Any Ph'ers about for a beer or two..?

Not been to Dubai nor the Middle East before, so looking forward to it, but I'll be coming from Singapore, rather than the UK smile

Sorry fella, I fly back to blighty tomorrow for a holiday. There will be beer though, usually after 7pm, after evening prayers. But no live music and what music there is has to be very quiet.

Getting a beer won't be a problem post Iftar, everything is just a little subdued

I'd have thought UAE was a bit wilder during Ram, in Oman they got nuts after Iftar. Booze available in hotels but not the gov't booze store. Carrefour seems to sell a years supply of Vimto each afternoon too.

I'm flying out on the 4th for two and half weeks of winter weather in SA. Can't wait! Ramadan is ok, the indoor bars like Nezassusi, Longs, the Underground and the like all get very busy. Have to admit that being here in the heat of August when it is also Ramadan is about the worst time to come.

I was out shopping the other day and overheard two unfortunate couples from Manchester complaining about the weather whilst they're here and groaning about how someone should have told them it would be too hot to sunbathe when they booked their holidays. They all clearly loved the sunbeds so no idea why they needed to lie out. Brilliant!
