Can anybody reccomend a decent tyre supplier and fitter in Dubai? Have been ringing around for a price for all 4 tyres on my 350Z and so far have been given a daft price by Nissan and Bridgestone. Pirelli are a decent price but the P Zero Rosso seem to get bad reviews.

Am interested in looking at Michelins/Yokohama but I'll be buggered if I can find how to get in touch with them.

Cheers

Couple of new places opened up recently in Al Qoz on the road behind the Garden Centre - may be worth investigating, but haven't been in myself.

I've had great help and advice from Jason at Fancy Tyres workshop right behind Speedex, next to the Oasis Centre. Nothing fancy (!), but very helpful.

I'm interested to hear where you read a bad review on P Zero Rossos. Thinking of getting those for an X5 at the moment.

I've tended to use Al Hawai Pirelli as they're a main dealer and used to fitting tyres on expensive rims. They also have full laser alignment facilities and the price is reasonable if you compare it with other places.

You could also try UTC (or is it UCT?) in Al Quoz. Sorry don't have a phone number on me just now but they quote reasonable prices for a number of makes and also do full alignment.

Oh, and regarding Michelins, the best place is CTC (Central Trading Company? what a typically Dubai name, LOL). They're on the road to Sharjah where all the car showrooms are, which can be a pain if you're at the new end of Dubai.

There's another Michelin place in Al Quoz called Al Mansour, but I don't like the place. Always felt like a low-rent souq.

Cheers for the replies guys. Just rang Jason at Fancy and he is calling me back with some details.

Harris, check out this link http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Pirelli/PZero-Ro...
they do not seem to fare well against the OEM Bridgestone OEM RE050A I have on at the moment. I would have gone for these again but have been quoted nearly 5k Dh fitted from Bridgestone direct and 6k Dhs from Nissan! The guy at Al Hawai was very good and knew waht he was talking about and the P Zero Rosso might yet be an option if I can't find the Mich PS2/3 or Goodyear F1 I would really like.

Would ideally like Michelin PS2 or PS3 but rang Central Trading and they are our of stock.

Was also looking at the Goodyear F1 Assymetric as they seem to be up there with the PS2. But can't get hold of Goodyear here.

All suggestions welcome!

Thanks for the link.

Wet handling tends to be relatively less important out here. I invariably choose tyres with strong dry handling characteristics. I may look into the Bridgestones as well. Michelins are out for me as I'm being recommended the "Lattitude" in the Michelin range which is more an all-round tyre and therefore not my preference.

Have to say that I was very impressed with the Michelin PS3s during a (Michelin organised) test - they seemed more 'coherent' and 'fluent' than the competitors they chose to run their demonstrators against. European road conditions, rather than UAE, and they are not exactly the last word in tread design fashion.but for feel and response, hmm....

Cheers for all the help. That guy Jason came through for me and as of 9am it will be Michelin PS2 all round for me! Will let you know how I get on.

Harris I agree that that tests on that website are not really representative of the UAE or of being on a X5! If they are offering you Bridgestone RE050A I can heartily reccomend them.

Bit late in here but.....

Did you know, as evolve forum sponsors Pirelli offer a substantial (<20%) discount on tyres for forum members......

I put some huuuuge 22" Pirelli rubber on the tahoe cheaper than Chevrolet were going to put 17" rubbish on the standard rims.

Needless to say, I'm very happy with them.

I found the German Tyre Company helpful out on the 44 heading to dragonmart. They mainly supply Continetal tyres, but also have a few other makes.

Bridgestone did the 4x4 recently for about 3k including laser alignment and a free tyre and alignment check in 10k time. When compared to the same tyres in the UK they were about £20 cheaper per tyres excluding UK fitting costs.

Dan - what does it cost to become an evolve member? This could save me a king's ransom on the X5...

(I'm already a lurker on the forum, BTW).

Zero I'm afraid. You can't prove they were responsible. You may know they are, but you can't prove it. Infuriating I know.

If its any consolation, I used a powerful cleaner to make my lovely rims look really really shiny. Sprayed it on and left it for 20 mins or so. When I washed it off, a load of lacquer came off with it. THEN I read the instructions and it said to leave on the wheel for no more than 1 minute!

Ouch. I feel your pain Chilli.

You were right, no one took responsibility. Avoid Fancy fking Tyres at all cost.

On the plus side, the Michelin Pilot Sport 2s are fantastic.

Can't you import tyres? I'm due to order a set of 4 pilot super sports from tire rack as it is cheaper by half to buy and ship them than order a set of ps2's from michelin here...according to Michelin here they don't exist in the size I want, lol

yes you can, a lot of the racers do/used to due to exorbitant prices here.

6th gear's experience is why 'd not look any further than MSW if i had something that warranted being looked after. any backstreet joint suffices for the wrangler.

Next time try the SuperSports - make the PS2s feel like linglongs.

Very impressed with them.

That said, I had P Zeros on before and thought they were pants, so anything would feel better.

This is good to hear,I can't wait to get mine on. My hot weather tyres are shagged in terms of grip.

Once you know exactly what tyre you want, go to either of the ones below.

I have spent a LONG time trying to get a deal on tyres and found that these chaps are the cheapest, whilst also giving you new tyres and incl fitting and balancing.

As an example, my wife got a blow out on her new X5 which had run flats last week. I got prices ranging from 2,000 to 3,000aed PER tyre from most. I went to Lord Land in the end and got a late 2012 tyre, brand new for 1,600aed incl fitting and balancing.

bear in mind that if you are ragging the car around and getting the back out, tyres aint gonna last 3 years....so I always get a new tyre which is say 6 months old...these are cheaper as they bought them in cheaper in the first place. It makes tyres for say the 911 around 1,000aed cheaper per tyre and they are still new tyres you know. Of course, do your due diligence and check the tyres and the Week/Year date on the tyre too.

So, the ones I use are:

Lord Land (On Umm Suquiem St) - If you are coming from Mall of the Emirates heading for Arabian Ranches its the very last place on your left hand side. With the new road layout try and do a left at Marina and then drive through the buildings to get to it. Tel: 04 320 1711

Tyre place on the SZR in the petrol station as you come into Internet City of the SZR. (The one which is always busy in the mornings) There is a tyre shop in there. Tel: 050 440 5118

Cheers

Luke

Any recommendations where I can get my wheels polished and looking like new again?

Many thanks!
