Hi all,

Just got back to Dubai after 6 weeks in Qatar. I subscribe to OSN (Orbit Showtime Network) but all the World Cup Games seem to be on Al Jazeera Sports.

Are the games shown on any other channel?

Is it possible to buy a card for Al Jazeera Sports just to watch the World Cup?

Failing that, where is recommended to watch the World Cup in Dubai? I live in Uptown Mirdif so that end of Dubai would be better.

So far I've been watching most of the games online but it's not ideal.

Thanks in advance.

Colin

You can subscribe to JSC but for a minimum of 12 months. I think it's about 300 for existing customers, but no idea for newbies. They are the only ones showing it.

Venues,....Barasti, The Irish Village, the Red Lion, The Underground bar, and cinema's seem to show them.

Cheers.

Hi Colin!

I got dragged along to Fibbers to watch the opening match. Needless to say, it was absolutely rammed but the picture quality was dreadful. I think they were using some sort of internet feed rather than the proper telly.

Dare I ask. . . who will you be rooting for then? biggrin

Hi Geoff,

As Scotland failed to qualify again, I'm completely neutral. I can't bring myself to support England but I hope they do well. I'm not one of those "Anyone But England" lot.

Thanks guys, I'll probably go to the Wafi or Belgium Beer Cafe for the big games.

Cheers.

BBC do 10% off per goal during the match - might go there to watch the Germans as everyone else is struggling to hit the net.

I went to Barrasti last weekend and the atmosphere was good but it is rammed, you can't sit down or put your beer down and it was smokey as hell. I then went to the IV, where they've got a good set up but it was totally devoid of atmosphere, even for the England game. I think those vuvu things have something to do with it as the commentary seems removed from the game without the noise of the crowd.

Hoping to be at the BBC in fest city for the next England game.

is st. went there for the first game. 10% offer only applies to bottles of stella and then only those ordered "during the score", ie - at 0-0 no discount

is not a good football watching venue

went to carter's and biggles last weekend - both were decent venues

been to red lion tonight - lots of new tvs, a good venue

belgian place is hit, tho - possibly because they have no interest in world cup ..
