Hi All - hope you're all well.

Myself and a friend have been looking at buying a small ski boat between us. We're looking at the Sea Doo/Yamaha jet boats in particular. The difference between buying a new one from the dealer here and the retail price in the States is massive (240,000dhs vs $44,000 which is about 162,000dhs) and so we're considering buy one from a US dealer and having it shipped across.

Has anyone on here done this? If so would you be kind enough to share your experiences and the costs?

Cheers,
J.

Hi,

Dont know anything about this apart from the fixed rate with the Dollar will help you, have you looked at your neighbours first though? There is a Yammy dealer and a BRP dealer here in Bahrain plus im sure Q8 or Saudi or Qatar will have dealers too.. might find a deal closer to home?

Dunk.

It's a good thought Dunk, I will look into it. Although I'm kind of suspicious that the prices at the main dealers in the ME are high....cos they can, if you know what I mean!! ;-)

Yeah i know what you mean especialy if the see expat walking through the door, unless you have a good local mate or know your Arabic, I know that the Harley dealer here owns the one in Saudi and Q8 and Qatar i think, anyway because of that all the prices are the same!
When im next passing the Yammy dealer and the BRP one ill stop and get some prices if i can.

Epic, epic, boat trip is in order.

(fuel, pirates, engine usage, lack of cover/fresh water/comms and nav, and all other factors temporarily ignored!)
