Speak to the boys at KTM - AFAIK they have a 'camp' out near Hatta where you can hire bikes plus all the kit etc.

Give them a call on 04-3235151

Be warned Nick - I ached for a week after off roading the other week.

Yeah, but you're alot older and more rounded than I am!
Plus, I only have sand to fall on.

I would love to do a bit of this but alas I have no license, experience or skill. Should have seen me tearing it up on a chinky scooter with the wife on the back in Malaysia last month though - I was like that, erm, that bloke with the funny eyes, Foggy, that's it - I was like a fat Foggy in a tiny little helmet that perched atop my massive skull.

A mate at work has four or five bikes now. He was going to get his son a quad until the boy said 'But Dad, quads are for puffs'. Not sure he's ever felt prouder!

Ah, then we'll get on fine then! Can't see you needed a licence to go off-road?

On a related topic - which is the best value dune bashing tour?

It was on my list when I arrived, and I've still not done it - no-one I work with goes either, so couldn't blag a ride!

Next weekend, or this weekend.

Was thinking about something like that, as a lot of them seem to just involve 20 mins off road then to a tourist camp - which I don't want. The one above seems to be more about terrain than belly dancing.

I can heartily recommend heading up to Big Red on the Hatta road and paying 600dhs for a hire of the Razor buggys one of the places has up there.

Great fun and they let you ps off wherever you want for an hour - which is more than enough, and it's got to be more fun than being seven up in a Land Cruiser before getting a henna tattoo.

No idea! I'm guessing a dune buggy type thing with a roll-cage and a big tyres, and possibly a V8!

I did Jebel Hafeet yesterday, not really relevant to this - but was a good fun road!

Great palace at the top!

No V8s unfortunately - they're about 800cc and can do about 50-60mph.

Needless to say that 60mph over the dunes in an open buggy with your mate sat next to you screaming for his life like a little girl is all good fun.

You can check them out on the Polaris website - I think Razor is spelt RZR because they've been drinking too much Pepsi Max...dude.

Oh, God. It's not run by a bunch of 20 year old Autralian adrenaline junkies is it?

Sounds like fun though...

These do look pretty cool. I had a go on a Polaris Snowmobile in Sweden a couple of years ago - that was a total hoot!
