What's the biggest DEWA bill you've seen?!
Discussion
They'll make up some random figure regardless.
Our villa historically had bills of between AED 800-1,500 and then 3 months after we moved in they sent a bill for over 4k. No explanation why, they agree that it's unusual and every month since has been around AED 1,200.
Still got to pay it though as they've checked the meter which is fine so it must be my fault.
I reckon you'll be looking at 2.5-3k a month.

Our 3 bed Saheel averaged 2500 per month. No pool.
In Barsha we've been at 100 and 2500 for the first 2 months. Luckily I stopped the pool company from filling the pool from the tap; funily enough this happened about 5 seconds before I fired their asses.
We do have a borehole but its not currently used, I might get a hose attached and get the gardener to use it to water the lawn. Shame to waste it!

During the winter we run at about 200Dhs per month rising to about 1500 during summer in a 4 bed Meadows (there is only me and SWMBO though), no pool.
My record DEWA bill though was about 10,500Dhs. We were away for a 2 week holiday and the underground water tank had dicky fit and the ball valve broke and the tank kept filling up. Now normally you would expect a leaking water tank to be spotted. But in their infinite wisdom the builders had put the overflow underground! This meant on return from holiday we had a subsided garden and a massive water bill.
This was quite common for a while round here and loads of properties suffered from the same problem. Some have replaced the underground tank with an above ground one. We blocked the overflow so if it does happen again we'll see the tank cover leaking.

Well, we had every man and his dog round last night, after having to resort to arranging to move out. Anyways the contractor has agreed to pay the DEWA bill up to now.
I thought that was a bit generous, given that he doesn't know what it'll be yet. Given that we've re-filled the pool (about 25ft * 10ft) 3 times, and both pumps have been p!ssing out water for 2 months.
Then the landlord phones, and tells us that he's checked with DEWA, and the bill is 800 Dirhams!!! Yeah, of course it is.
So, it looks like they've had a word with someone, and told them what to charge us this month, then probably to pull me pants down in future months.
800.....Do they all think we were born yesterday?

If you know your DEWA number - small little plaque attached to your front gate (villa) or door (apartment) - then just head over to http://www.dewa.gov.ae/default.aspx and plumb it in. Et voila - all being well you should know how much you're being charged.
We ended up doing this after not having a bill for 8 months - expected to be facing something silly, but ended up working out to less than 150Dhs a month - at least 100Dhs less than what I was paying in a smaller place before. Having an apartment with central chiller makes a massive difference in the monthly cost!
