Do you drink the tap water over here? I'm guessing not, but we buy bottled. Thing is the dog drinks it, and he seems to have some kinda infection....I won't go into details.
So, is it riddled with crap that'll make you ill?
The Mrs is very ill at the mo, although she doesn't think she's drunk any of it.

Was just wondering.

Never used to drink tap water when we were out there.

What is up with the dog Chilli, you have to be careful in the Middle East. Our dog contracted Parvo virus and we had to have her put down. Horrible way for her to go and the vets fees were eye watering. We still got another dog mind you, she cost even more as we brought her back to the UK...

Eh up mate!
It just has a little infection......looks like a water infection, as his winkle has a little something on the end! Come on man, you know what I mean!!
Otherwise, he's perfectly fit, he should be, he's been to the vets 4 times for all his jabs, chips & passport.

That's good news then, glad to hear he has nowt serious!

Completley O/T, but isn't it the same time where you are to where I am? I'm three hours ahead of the UK here in sunny Russia. This means it's almost time for a drink both here and there.

Amazing eh? It's like we're connected.

Yep, same time mate. How far north are you then....given there's about 40 degrees in temp difference?!
Oh, and it's the only reason I log in....I just know when you have....ever since we had that, you know "night on the boat" together!

We are now being blasted by 11C temperatures here. It's like summer has arrived! According to Google Earth I am roughly 55 34'28.56" North by 39 32'29.76" East at an elevation of 124m. If that helps.

That was a special night, I'll treasure it forever...

Man, those numbers mean nothing to me.
If it helps, I've just got out of the pool to use the little boys room, and will be popping back in now. Beer and a smoke in the inflatable chair is the way forward.

Well, I popped home for lunch and the onborad temperature jobby on the dash told me it is a whopping 14C! It's really sunny outside too.

It's not the same as the pool though, or civilisation. I can't wait for our two month summer when I can go down to the lake, swim in the frozen waters and enjoy the sun.

I'm jealous of you Chilli. Why do I end up in all the crappy places?

hehe

Let's have this conversation again in August, when it's simply too hot to go outside, and unless you have a cooling system on your pool, you can't use it!

well, the tap water is desalinated water (from the sea), how well its treated I have no real idea, but have not drank since I have been here. Our cats drink and so far have not suffered any ill effects.

For making ice, we boil the water first. Also, when cooking we do use water straight out of the tap

UAE water is biologically safe. Just doesn't taste great hence a readily available tap filter is all you really need.

UAE water is biologically safe........when it leaves the desalination plant.

However, when it gets to your building or villa that may be a different story. I remember reading an article that stated that up to 90% of water tanks at residences contain legionnaires disease (although not in levels that can take-hold and cause an outbreak. Until the weather warms up, that is.....

I'm currently collecting samples from mine and a mates villas to get it checked-out....

Boil it if you are going to drink it. Or use bottles.

Funny you should mention that, I was in DXB for 4 years and noticed (in all seriousness)hangovers were horrible, even in winter with normal temps. funny thing was this topic came up at rugby one weekend and everyone suffered the same. Turns out it's something to do with the preservatives in the booze!
for hot weather.

Re water, tap never!
and if you enjoy walking around any park in bare feet to enjoy the grass forget it.
TSE...Treated Sewerage Effluent, there is so much volume it's not that well treated and
now you know the odd smell from the sprinkler systems.

Grim Grin Grim.
