GT1s (and UAE Touring Cars) at Yas 16/17th April - 50Dhs
Discussion
Just found out the prices for the GT1s that are racing at Yas on the 16th/17th of April - 50Dhs for standard or 250Dhs for premium (includes food and drink) per person per day. It seems they've learnt their lessons from the Aussie V8s and the 350Dhs ticket debacle.
There's also the local boys racing in the Touring Cars as the support race so should be plenty of action on track.

LOL, wish it was, but sadly out of my reach.
This is the FIA GT1 World Championship which is an international race series, and they'll be supported by the UAE Touring Car Championship. I'm in the UAE GT Championship which will be running next weekend.
Well done to Yas for finally recognising that their pricing policy killed interest in the Aussie V8 weekend.
PS: driver's diary for last weekend is up on the CAR website:

Should also be appearing shortly on www.crankandpiston.com once the pics are ready.

Is it possible to just turn up and pay at the gate for this, or do you need to book? If so, how do you get hold of tickets? Sorry for all the questions - I have just turned up in the UAE two days ago and am still getting to grips with everything. I am not yet sure if I have work commitments on the weekend in question, but I would like to go if possible. There's also the local boys racing in the Touring Cars as the support race so should be plenty of action on track.

Thanks Phil!http://www.crankandpiston.com/?q=node/879
Heard you got a podium at the last one - congrats. Good luck at Yas. Hell of a circuit - go flat flat flat at the two right turns before the hotel

Thanks for the link Mattt. I am definitely free on Friday 16th but I can't find anything that looks like a programme on the website - do you think it will be worth heading down for one day, or is most of the racing likely to be on Saturday? Here's the timetable for the race weekend at Yas:

Nice one, thanks.http://www.dubaiautodrome.com/uploadedFiles/motors...
As I thought, all the racing is on Saturday but I am still thinking of going down on Friday afternoon just to see the cars on track. Yas Island looks pretty cool on the telly and since I'm new here I think it might be a reasonable day trip. Unfortunately, I have to be at work on Saturday morning.
We'll be going along to this. Just tried to book on-line and by phone but they accept credit card payments only and don't accept a Visa debit card! So, if the mrs is at the Mall of the Emirates between now and then we'll buy them in advance, failing that we'll just buy them at the gate on the day. Can't see it being sold out.
