Hiya
The employer will provide accomodation (3 bed) or provide an allowance of about 90k pa which seems to be enough in the current market for something decent. Just one flight home and 25 days leave a year. Salary and bonus will in total be above uk gross amount. Ohh will also include car but not too sure what yet.
Will be based in either festival city area or possibly one of the investment parks.
Accomodation wise I am thinking either Mirdiff or Marina depending on where the role ends up being based.
Really looking forward to coming over and getting settled.

Nice one! I just arrived two days ago so haven't really had much time to spend on PH or Dubizzle yet but I've seen and heard a few fantastic cars driving around Dubai.
It feels pretty hot to me (I am a Northerner) but not uncomfortably so. I guess that will change in a few more weeks, but for now I am just enjoying the novelty of it being warmer outside than indoors. It is pretty much impossible to survive in this town without a car, so I am looking at hiring some wheels for the next few weeks until I can get my residents visa and stuff sorted out. Taxis aren't too expensive but it's becoming a bit of a hassle relying on them and I feel the need to get out and explore under my own steam.
I am watching the PH beers thread with interest.

It is hot - it really ramped up last week and yesterday was the warmest it's been since last Sept or Oct I reckon. Hopefully it's a temporary thing and will die down again for a while before the summer heat hits.
I'd say get a hire car too, it's the best way to learn the city and your visa could be two or eight weeks depending on just how crap the firm you work for are.

Thanks for the welcome and offers of help, its appreciated.
Hopefully the resisidancy wont take too long and will be more like two weeks not eight !!!!!
Looking forward to some sun after another gloomy day in Berkshire.
Car wise it will be great to have a V6/V8 company car fingers crossed and not the cheap on tax TDI option :-)
Will have to join you all when you meet up
Cheers

its easier if you know where you will be based, office wise. Festival City = Mirdif. Media City = Marina or if you fancy being a little bit further away from the hustle and bustle, the Arabian Ranches/Motor City is where its at.
Oh, and V8's is where its at here - fuel is feck all, so you won't even need to consider the cost when chosing a car.
