I was thinking about going but the tickets are quite pricey. Their website only mentioned hospitality tickets and not general entry. Are there any good places to watch it from without having to buy a ticket?

AFAIK you can stand anywhere on the Corniche and watch the action for free. I think it's recommended to get down there early to find a place to park as traffic can be a nightmare

Yep, the tickets are only for 'official' seating AFAIK.

You could try and grab a place near the Mall/Breakwater if it's open - although I imagine the tower restaurants will be pretty full!

I was thinking maybe one of the Khalidiya hotels would be a good bet, and slightly back from the Corniche traffic fun.
